Fork Food Lab, TGP 2013 graduate Neil Spillane’s brain child, opened August 1st on Parris Street in Portland’s Bayside neighborhood. The shared commercial kitchen and tasting room offers local foodiepreneurs options for both full-time and part-time access to commercial kitchen facilities. Fork offers patrons prep tables, access to equipment, cold/dry storage, and all of the paper goods and sanitation supplies foodiepreneurs need to bring their products to market.
The facility is hosting their grand opening celebration on Tuesday, September 27 at 6 pm. This will be a ticket you will want to buy.

Top Gun Prep 2015 Graduate Laurie Osher of Osher Environment Systems was the Green Champion for the Penobscot Theatre Company in June. Osher conducted an energy audit and helped install weatherization to help reduce energy use at the Bangor Opera House (the theater’s traditional home) by 25%.
The work was made possible by an award last year of $100,000 award from Grants to Green - a program jointly administered by The Maine Community Foundation, Maine Development Foundation and Efficiency Maine Grants. Grants to Green was established to provide environmentally focused knowledge and funding to strengthen nonprofits.
The theatre is using the money to replace the antiquated oil-fired furnace at the historic Opera House, and is working to attract matching funds to “bring the theatre more fully into the 21st century,” according to Executive Director Mary Budd.
Laurie Osher, Ph.D. of Osher Environment Systems will continue to support the project as the theatre’s designated Green Champion.

Top Gun Prep 2015 graduate DaVinci Experience Science & Art Camp director, Judy Crosby announced that Alicia Uth has been named Assistant Camp Director. Alicia has years of teaching experience and has taught at the Rhode Island School of Design and at Met High School in Providence, RI. She was the founder of the Arts Advisory for the Metro Regional Career & Technical Center in Providence RI. She was also the Art Director for "Lights On After School Program" in Providence. Most recently she has been teaching at Westbrook Middle School. Lydia MacDonald, of Yarmouth, has been hired as the Sites' Coordinator. She has been a Brunswick camp director and is pursuing a degree in Elementary Education.

Top Gun Prep 2015 Graduate Mike Roylos of Side Walk Butler was featured in April in a WCSH6 news clip in April. The company which operates in Portland to eliminate cigarette butt litter was featured in a segment about EarthDay. Roylos, the founder of SWB supplied a strong visual of the company's impact by dumping the approximately 140,000 butts collected on the streets of Portland since Janaury onto a tarp.

Top Gun Prep 2014 graduate Anchorpak was one of six companies to receive a Tech Grant from MTI in April. The makers of the first bag designed to correspond perfectly to the basic geometry of the human body have designed their bag to support the everyday need to contend with gravity. The company has applied for an MTI Seed Grant to help conduct biometric data to support its claim that the bag is superior to other bags in the market.

The U.S. Small Business Administration selected Top Gun Prep 2013 graduate Ellen Thayer, Founder of Love Rocks Me to receive the SBA Home-Based Business of the Year Award for Maine and New England. The Award is presented to a successful home-based business with at least a 3-year track record. She will be honored at an SBA Reception on May 4, 2016 at the Augusta Civic Center in Augusta.

The french restaurant was voted one of the top fifty restaurants in the state of Maine by Maineplate, and the "Most Romantic Restaurant of 2015" by Downeast Magazine. The accolades have continued into 2016 with a #1 Reader's Choice in DineHere. The establishment was also vetted by Bill Green in Bill Green’s Maine, where he stated that it was the ”best food he ever had”.

Top Gun Prep 2015 graduate DaVinci Experience Science & Art Camps is opening a new site in Standish this summer at 175 Northeast Rd. The camp offers a week long session on "Making Maine Art" for children ages 4-13 years old. They plan to offer both full day and half day sessions along with a Counselor-In-Training Program for 13-15 year olds. The company attracts youth from all over the world with its more than 20 different summer camp themes in Falmouth, Cape Elizabeth, Cumberland, Brunswick and Yarmouth on Cousins Island.

The resulting expanded Winter Servicing Center will deliver a turn key offering to boat yards around the state for their sail and canvas needs.

Top Gun Prep 2015 Graduate Beachstone Sustainable Products developed new processes, added staff, and increased its product line and showroom network in 2015.
The environmentally conscious company developed a 100% portland cement free concrete that is rapid hardening and allows turnaround times of 2 hours from batch to polish - using none of the “free lime” usually associated with portland cement binders. Using that, they were able to add new sustainable products across its product lines while growing their dealer network.
Building on their goal of sustainability, the company hired Taylor Burgdorf as Director of Sustainability, and created a HPD (Health Product Declaration), which is the new standard for transparency of all products.
Finally, reaching out for new opportunities the company worked directly with clients Allagash Brewing and the Town of Brewer to create signature products.
